Back in the day (five months ago), when I was selling Froggy’s Popcorn at local festivals and events, one in three customers would ask me “Which one is your favorite flavor?” and my answer was always “I love them all, they are like my children.” One hundred percent true. I toiled and mixed, and tasted and bubbled, each and every recipe. Including Chocolate Coffee Toffee! But secretly… I wanted this one to win. It’s an indulgent love triangle of my favorite flavors. And who doesn’t need some indulgence right now?
My go to cocoa is a brand called Valrhona. It’s French and fancy, and considered the finest in the world. And it makes really good chocolate caramel. But stopping there, at a simple chocolate flavor, is not my speed. I had been wanting to create a darker caramel than what we already have on the menu. Coffee’s complex bitterness paired with rich toffee and chocolate is like a night at the Opera. And so, it was born. And you, popcorn fans, made it live!
Thank you all for voting. We heard you loud and clear, and gained some new flavor ideas along the way! I set forth to do two things—make delicious popcorn, and save homeless animals. Chocolate Coffee Toffee is going to get us another step closer. Got more flavor suggestions? Send them my way by clicking the contact us tab!
During our last chapter of Pop History, we learned that popcorn is one of the oldest snack foods known to mankind. But how did popcorn come to be one of America’s most popular snack foods? Let’s take a look!
